Scary mask

This is a very small part of our video that goes with the lyrics "DJ turn it up...DJ turn it up", which cuts from Frances saying "DJ' and then the mask with flashing lights on it. We used this because the song has a deep voice saying "turn it up" and the mask seemed to fit well with this. The flashing lights are there to make it look more interesting and not just a still picture.

Ripping money and ripped tights

To keep the theme of the video continuous the whole way through we tried to plan scenes that would give a youthful, fun and slightly provocative vibe. In these parts of the video we decided to have someone on a running machine wearing ripped ballet tights and scratching down them. Another part we filmed with the same model (Lucy), was the ripping up money scene, which goes to the lyrics in our song "Were tearing it apart". 

The videos above are all of the same scene but are filmed slightly differently. One with the models face showing and with her leg up, we did this so that we could chose which one looked best for our video. We filmed it in front of a white background to make her stand out more as she is wearing a black leotard. The tights don't really look very bold, therefore we will probably re-film this and chose a different colour of tights like black, that will show up more against a white background.

We filmed this part of our video, with Lucy ripping up fake £50 notes, in front of a brick wall to add some different locations into the video. we filmed some videos with her tearing it very slowly and then others where she throws it up in the air. We did this because then we can cut small sections of each and put them together to give it a jumpy effect, like she is tearing it up multiple times. 

Frances at my house

We filmed Frances at my house for the beginning parts of the video. For example the writing on the mirror. We filmed a number of other scenes for the video, and this part of the filming takes up the majority of our music video.

These two parts of our filming are for the beginning part of the video where she breaks her hand-cuffs and then is smiling and poking her tongue out. We put our model in a white crop top, white shorts and red lipstick in order to show the mise en scene of our video and keep the colours to a theme. the hand-cuffs symbolize her 'breaking free' and show her being wild and the other video is just to show her youthfulness and fun personality.

These two videos are filmed in a mirror with the model standing in between the mirror and the camera, and we filmed slightly to the side so that the camera would not be able to be seen in the mirror. Frances writes '#HARD' on the mirror to open the video like in our research and this is the name we have given the song.

This is another video of Frances licking her lips with 'grillz' on her teeth which is a generic thing we found among videos in this style. 

 

We filmed her putting on her shoes, sitting on a table to set off the rest of the video as if she is going out. we filmed it from two different angles to see which one looks best. We decided that the the better one was the first one which is more head on as it looks better and more as if she is looking into the camera. When we re-film this we will move around so that we cannot be seen in the mirrors with the camera. 

We filmed frances outside for other parts of our video. the first one is her coming out of a bush, looking around and then running away, to show that she is up to something and is free. The second one is of her standing on a swing which is to show another fun scene. In both of these shots Frances is wearing a large fur coat to show power and to make her stand out more in the outside environment.

Re-shooting three people

We decided to re film this section of our music video because the white sheet we were using was creased and it showed up on the video. We then looked into what else we could use and how we could light it to eliminate shadows. We decided to use a white projector sheet which is a more plastic material that did not have any creases in it. 

This time when we filmed we thought of some more ideas of what we could do for this section which proved to look better than what we had originally planned. 

The first video is the casual dancing idea where we had three people in a row dancing, this way it is less noticeable if the camera moves slightly as we do not have the equipment for a dolly or something similar. there are many shots like these and the best one will be chosen and put in the video. 

The next one is the mustaches and after filming this we decided we did not like this idea because it takes too long to get across all the people and it is difficult to have everyone close together with  no gaps in between them.

These three videos are new ideas that we though would look effective and in the style of our video. We used idea and shots that would show all three models at the same time so that we were not limited in how quickly we would have to move the camera along. We also decided to to choose models with all brown (Poppy, Ashley and myself) hair instead of having one with blonde as it looks more consistent.

Filming three people

While we were filming we thought of new ideas to put in our video like the one above. In this video we filmed the three people flicking their hair up in a cannon motion (one after another) so it would be a continuous movement. We did this spontaneously, however after filming it there proved to be problems with the timing of the shot as the 4 second gap was not long enough to include all of the footage. Another problem was that the clothes of the models was visible and difficult to hide.

When we were filming we played around with different ideas and another one we had was to have the models casually dancing which at the time we though looked quite good, but there proved to be issues with the white sheet background as the creases were noticeable even after ironing it. Then we filmed the 3 models with sweets on their tongues which was one of our original ideas. However after filming this we discovered that we may need to think of different ideas because it was difficult to get a fast and steady movement of all three models in the short clip of the video. The same problems occurred with the mustaches, however we felt that this idea still looked better than any of the others , and would be attempted again when we re-filmed this part of the video.

Props Research

In our music video there are various props that are used, in order to make our video look more attractive and make it fit in with the look we are going for. 

Plastic handcuffs are used at the beginning of the video to symbolize her breaking free and being 'wild'.

Lipstick is used to draw the artists name on the mirror at the beginning of the video, which sets off the video as her being a rebellious character. 

The exercise bike is used quite a lot in our video we got this from Miley Cyrus's video as we though it was a fun and different idea. 

Grillz:

Grillz are a teeth accessory used frequently in new music videos. However the price of this accessory is expensive and beyond our budget, therefore we came up with an alternative idea of using tin foil to create a similar look.

Mise en Scene:

During the progression of making our video, certain things have been unable to happen. So, to make sure our video is still of a high standard we have added different bits in to fill up the video such as drinking, using a lighter and smoking. we have also set things up so that they look good and are in the style of the video.

Rebecca- Glitter eye

We filmed Rebecca for the part of our video that is someone with a sparkly eye on their hand covering their face and also a close up shot of her eyes with glitter on them. To do this we drew an eye on her hand and covered it with glitter and also put some basic makeup on her face and brushed her hair back.
